Dallas, TX – The Workflow Management Coalition (WfMC) announced today that the State of Hawaii, Department of Human Services (DHS), Benefit, Employment and Support Services Division (BESSD) received a 2014 Global Case Management Award for Excellence in Social Services at the 2014 BPM and Case Management Global Summit held at the Ritz Carlton, Pentagon City, MD. The agency was recognized for a recently-deployed enterprise content management (ECM) and case management solution (CMS) which supports 22 distributed office locations across the islands.
Sponsored by WfMC and supported by BPM.com and Future Strategies Inc., the Global Awards for Excellence in Case Management recognize user organizations worldwide that have demonstrably excelled in implementing innovative solutions. Award winners were announced at a special gala dinner ceremony on June 17th, 2014 at The BPM and Case Management Global Summit, Washington DC.
DHS/BESSD staff provides citizens with essential support services to include food, shelter, and child care assistance, as well as employment support and work-training, and dependency diversion and prevention, all which require substantial case documentation and management. The agency’s main objective for implementing the CMS was to improve the citizen experience, improve data quality, provide an optimized 360⁰ view of cases across all the distributed branch offices, and manage more efficiently an increasing number of cases from citizens requesting assistance without adding additional support staff.
“We are honored to receive this highly-respected award; this is a tremendous acknowledgment for all of the hard work and creativity it took to improve our beneficiaries’ overall experience,” says Pankaj Bhanot, Administrator of BESSD. “The CMS has empowered our staff to capture more securely and accurately our beneficiaries' case information and access that information from any location. They can now monitor the process more efficiently allowing the agency to deliver support much sooner.”
DHS/BESSD selected Imagine Solutions to design, develop and implement the CMS, consisting of Imagine Solutions’ Encapture for Distributed Capture, IBM Datacap for Advanced Capture, IBM Advanced Case Management and IBM FileNet Content Manager. The solution replaced a paper-based system with an electronic format that now supports automatic recognition and classification of citizen-provided content, minimizing the need for manual paper processing, leading to improved accuracy for form validation and accelerated case processing times.
“Technology is most exciting when it solves real problems in peoples’ daily lives, and the citizens of Hawaii will be better served for years to come through this major improvement in how the state delivers human services,” said Rick Smith, Founder and CEO, of Imagine Solutions. “We are honored to be recognized for our contributions and want to thank Hawaii DHS for demonstrating such foresight and commitment in this initiative.
